About The Book

Inspired by dream-born words — “I am not the enemy but the cure” — the book invites a shift in perspective, reminding us that what we often perceive as obstacles may, in truth, be pathways to healing and growth. Using aerial landscape art as a metaphor, it challenges the reader to rise to a higher vantage point — like a bird in flight — to see beyond immediate pain or struggle. From this elevated view, what once appeared as barriers at ground level may be revealed as the very cure we need: whether it is the guidance of our parents, the trials that shape us, or the struggles that strengthen us.

Parenthood is the quiet miracle of life—a journey so profound it transcends words and weaves itself into the very fabric of who we are. It is love in its purest form: tireless, unyielding, and often unseen.

With each page, A Debt of Love calls us to pause, to reflect, and to honour the hands that guided us, the arms that sheltered us, the voices that calmed us, and the wisdom that shaped us. More than a collection of essays, it is an invitation to gratitude, reverence, and remembrance—for the irreplaceable role of parents in our lives. In these moments of reflection, we are reminded of the timeless prayer “My Lord, have mercy upon them [my parents] as they raised me when I was small.” (Holy Quran, 17:24) and grant them health, multiply their rewards, make their children the coolness of their eyes, and allow us to serve them in the best and most pleasing ways.

Know More About Author

Madeeha Maham - Author | Artist | Architectural Designer

Madeeha Maham is an author, artist, and architectural designer passionate about creating work that unites art, faith, and human connection. With a background in Architecture (BA Hons, PG Dip) and Fine Arts, she explores the harmony between structure and emotion, blending creativity with meaning and purpose.

As the creator of A Debt of Love: Honouring and Thanking Our Parents, her work invites reflection on gratitude, spirituality, and compassion, and has been shared in schools, libraries, and community town halls. Her artwork has also been exhibited in art galleries in Glasgow, inspiring reflection on the emotional and spiritual bonds that shape our lives.

Drawing inspiration from nature — particularly the behaviour of animals, birds and insects — as well as from human psychology and the principles of biomimicry, she seeks to understand how we behave, think, feel and connect. Guided by faith and ethics, her creative journey is shaped by the belief that: “Science teaches me how to build a bridge, while religion teaches me how to help others cross it.”

Beyond art and writing, she is deeply involved in community service — from organising charity fundraisers and creative outreach, to tree-planting initiatives that nurture both people and the planet. Through her work, she aims to celebrate gratitude, inspire compassion, and bridge the worlds of art, faith, and humanity.
